Ben Burdick

Attorney

Ben is an advocate for the rights of working people.  After earning his J.D. at the University of California, Berkeley, Ben served as a law clerk to Justice Lidia Stiglich of the Nevada Supreme Court.  He then returned east to his hometown in Syracuse, where he worked as an associate in a law firm representing labor unions in both the private and public sectors.

Ben started his own law practice in 2023 to focus on representing individuals in disputes with employers.  As a solo practitioner, he advised workers on their workplace rights; obtained sizable settlements in harassment and wage theft cases; successfully defended workers accused of violating noncompete and nondisclosure agreements; and won unemployment insurance for employees who had wrongly been denied benefits. Ben believes that workers need—and deserve—no lesser quality of representation than management gets.

While running his own practice, Ben started collaborating with Abdo O’Brien on workers’ compensation matters in 2024 as an independent contractor.  He joined Abdo O’Brien full-time in 2026.  In addition to his workers’ compensation practice, Ben continues to advise and represent workers on a full spectrum of employment law matters, including but not limited to wage and hour issues, discrimination and harassment, and unemployment insurance.

Before becoming a lawyer, Ben earned his M.S. in theoretical physics from the Perimeter Institute in Waterloo, Ontario, Canada.  He still enjoys reading and thinking about quantum mechanics in his free time.  Ben’s other hobbies include skiing, hiking, and gardening.  He lives with his family in Rensselaer County, and maintains an office in Albany, close to all state and federal courthouses.  Ben is a member of the American Bar Association, the New York State Bar Association, the Albany County Bar Association, and the Injured Workers Bar Association.
